ETA launches RTA Announces Launch of ETA/Real-Time Tracking RTA Announces Launch of ETA/Real-Time Tracking New Service Currently in BETA Testing Phase NEW ORLEANS – The Regional Transit Authority, RTA, has launched the BETA version for Estimated Time of Arrival, ETA/Real-Time tracking for consumer testing. The first 500 people to visit www.norta.com and create a MyRTA account will have access to ETA/Real-Time tracking service on all fixed-routes. It is critical that the agency receives feedback from transit riders so the agency can resolve any potential “glitches” in the system. “This service is another step in an ongoing effort to improve access to information that will enhance the rider experience, improve the quality of life for riders and make the transit system more accessible,” stated Patrice Bell Mercadel, Director of Marketing. With a MyRTA account, riders can subscribe to get real time status updates and alerts delivered to their mobile devices for their preferred routes and transit stops. Along with this subscription service, riders can access ETA status for any stop by viewing an overview map to see approximately where a Bus/Streetcar is located. MyRTA subscribers can also download “GTFS Transit Data”, recently made open to the public and now utilized with Google Maps. The RTA plans to utilize this testing phase to better enhance the quality of the real time data to provide the most accurate information for riders. The RTA is dedicated to continually improving access to transit services.
