Algiers Ferry Terminal Renovation Project Enters Final Round of Community Engagement
- November 7th, 2024
RTA also provided free rides on early voting Saturdays
NEW ORLEANS – The $9.7 million Algiers Ferry Terminal Renovation Project is in its final design phase. Riders can review plans and share feedback at two community meetings:
- In-person session on Saturday, Nov. 16 (10 a.m. – 1 p.m.), Algiers Ferry Terminal building (138 Morgan St., New Orleans, LA 70114)
- Virtual meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 20 (5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.). Log-in details to come.
Previous community meetings were held over the spring and summer 2024. Work is scheduled to begin in early 2025 and is expected to last one year. The upcoming meetings will focus on three elements:
- What we have heard to date from the community
- Ideas for programming the interior of the Terminal and planned entry plaza
- Upcoming construction phase
This project will improve the boarding ramp, renovate the interior of the Terminal, and make the Terminal an amenity for riders, ferry staff, and the surrounding community. The project will also improve safety and connectivity for pedestrians, cyclists, and bus riders accessing the Terminal. Through a community-centered design process, the project incorporates the needs and interests of riders, transit operators, and community members.
