Transit options that save you time and hassle

Once you’ve figured out where you're going, we have plenty of options to reliably get you there.

Get where you want to go on RTA buses. We have almost 40 routes covering every neighborhood in the city.

Four streetcar lines run through some of the most iconic areas of New Orleans—the historic St. Charles Avenue line, the Canal Street line to Cemeteries and City Park, the Riverfront line, and the Rampart-St. Claude Avenue line.

The Algiers Point/Canal Street and Lower Algiers/Chalmette ferries connect both banks of the river for convenient access and travel.

Our Paratransit option is a shared ride service designed to help customers who are unable to use regular transit services due to a disability or disabling health condition.

Safely walk or bike

Bike trails offer easy ways to access transit. You can either secure your own bike to the bus and ride or utilize the city’s shared bike option, Blue Bikes. Here are our favorite tips for combining transit and bikes.

Accessibility for riders

We believe that transit should be accessible for all riders, which is why we offer services to make riding easier.

Pay your fare

There are plenty of ways to pay, so take your pick. The super easy, no-stress way is with the Le Pass app or Jazzy Pass. Download the Le Pass app on your smart phone (iPhone, Android) or buy a Jazzy Pass online, at a retail location or at the RTA office.

Enjoy the ride

Getting there can be half the fun, as long as you follow a few rules. No smoking, and please allow people with disabilities and senior citizens to use the designated priority seating. Check out rules for riding to see all the ways to make the ride more enjoyable for you and everyone else.

Our transit services easily connect to other systems, find the information for seamless regional travel here. Jefferson Transit (JeT) and St. Bernard Parish Rapid Urban Transit (SBURT) are public transit systems that operate independently of the RTA. Riders can transfer to either system or into the RTA system from either system. RTA, JeT, and SBURT all have separate fare and pass options that are not transferable to other systems. The Regional Ride allows riders to pay one fare to ride RTA and JeT.
