Algiers Service Improvement Plan
Developing better bus service for Algiers riders
Algiers Service Improvement Plan
Throughout 2025, RTA surveyed and spoke with riders, sharing with us their vision and goals for transit. Those goals were:
- more frequent service,
- faster trips to downtown,
- better service to grocery stores,
- continued access to transfer hubs.
You asked, we listened. Algiers transit riders can expect to have improved bus service, starting on September 20, 2026.

The proposed Recommended Network will benefit the vast majority of Algiers bus riders with more frequent service, faster trips to downtown, and one-seat rides to grocery stores.
In response to community feedback, the RTA developed a Recommended Network to improve bus service for Algiers riders.
| Phase 1 outreach included a rider survey and five public listening sessions. View the results of that outreach here. Previous meetings were held between August 6 and September 6 at Algiers Regional Library, Wilty Terminal, Main Library, RTA Canal St. building, and Morris F.X. Jeff Sr. Rec Center. Further meetings to discuss the service options were held between November 18 and December 4 at DePaul Health Center, Heroes of New Orleans, and the RTA Administration Building. Meetings were held in January 2026 as well. View the recording of the January 28 webinar here. |
