Chalmette Ferry closed indefinitely due to Chalmette Paris Road Bridge failed inspection by LaDOTD
- March 25th, 2024
NEW ORLEANS – Today, the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA) indefinitely suspended Chalmette Ferry operations following the announcement by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LaDOTD) of its immediate closure of the Chalmette Paris Road Bridge.
This afternoon, an LaDOTD inspection found structural deficiencies resulting in unsafe driving conditions. The bridge will remain closed until further notice, with LaDOTD crews currently assessing the extent of the damage.
RTA will provide further updates promptly as they become available.
