New Orleans RTA Launches Workshops to Support Local Businesses
- October 20th, 2022
NEW ORLEANS - The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA) announced the agency will host monthly workshops to provide additional support and development for certified Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs). The monthly workshops were developed from a survey of more than 150 businesses registered with the agency’s DBE program.
The RTA’s commitment to equity is the core of the agency’s values and includes using our financial resources to contribute to our community’s economic development. This is proven by the fact that we awarded $7.3 million in contracts to DBEs in 2021, exceeding our 30% DBE utilization objective by more than 20% and making us one of the state’s top performers in this area.
RTA will host its first monthly workshop on Tuesday, October 25, at the agency’s main office, 2817 Canal Steet, New Orleans, LA 70119. The workshop will begin at 5:30pm. This month’s workshop is titled Small Business Resources for Success and will teach DBEs about public, private and national resources designed to support the success of small businesses. The workshop is free, but DBEs must register here to attend.
