RTA announces bus and streetcar service changes

New Orleans, LA –Today, the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA) announced winter service changes effective Sunday, January 16, 2022. A new route, 86 – St. Maurice–Arabi will be introduced, the Riverfront streetcar will be introduced, as well as, other minor changes that increase on-time performance, enhancing the rider's experience and service reliability.
RTA will modify service to the Lower Ninth Ward with the introduction of the 86 – St. Maurice-Arabi route. The route will be a neighborhood circulator connecting residents to the commercial center in Arabi. The route will terminate at the St. Claude Arts Center which will act as a neighborhood transfer point connecting riders to transit in St. Bernard Parish (SBURT). Due to the new route, the 84 – Galvez will no longer service Caffin Ave. and Tupelo St. This new route is a part of the RTA’s New Links implementation.
Streetcar service along the 49 – Loyola-Riverfront will be restored beginning Sunday, January 16, with service from the French Market to Union Passenger Terminal. Rampart streetcar remains suspended due to damage sustained to Hard Rock Hotel collapse.
Additionally, the agency has adjusted the following routes to improve on-time performance and service reliability. Minor adjustments have been made to the routes below to improve service and on-time performance:

Claiborne 27 - Louisiana 32 - Leonidas-Treme 39 - Tulane 51/52 - St. Bernard- St. Anthony/St. Bernard-Paris Ave. 55 - Elysian Fields 60 - Hayne 62 - Morrison Express 64 - Lake Forest Express 65 - Read-Crowder Express | 65 - Read-Crowder Express 80- Desire-Louisa 84 - Galvez 88 - St. Claude/ Jackson Barracks 90 - Carrollton 91 - Jackson-Esplanade 94 - Broad 100 - Algiers Loop Owl 101 - Algiers Point 102 - General Meyer 108 - Algiers Local 114/115 - General DeGaulle-Sullen/ General DeGaulle-Tullis |
Route changes to improve operator safety and address long standing detours were also made to the following routes:
57 - Franklin: Service will end at SUNO School of Social Work.
The outbound service will for the following routes on the westbank will end at General Meyers and Carver Street. The routes will no longer service Bennett Street and Berkeley Street for the following routes:
100 - Algiers Loop Owl
102 - General Meyer
108 – Algiers Local
114 - General DeGaulle-Sullen
115 - General DeGaulle-Tullis
