RTA Board of Commissioners swears in four new representatives from Jefferson, Orleans parishes

NEW ORLEANS – Today, the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority’s Board of Commissioners swore in three new representatives from Jefferson Parish and one from Orleans Parish at its monthly meeting at the agency’s A. Philip Randolph Operations Building.
The new commissioners from Jefferson Parish, appointed by Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng, are Parish Attorney Toni Hurley, Deputy Parish Attorney Brad Richard, and Assistant Parish Attorney Colin Cisco. The Orleans Parish representative, appointed by Mayor LaToya Cantrell, is Flozell Daniels, Jr., who is returning to the Board where his most recent position was Board Chair before stepping down in July 2022. Daniels served on the Board for 11 years.
“I am happy that the board will be functioning with a full membership and want to thank Mayor Cantrell and Jefferson Parish President Lee Sheng for their recent appointments,” said Mark Raymond, Jr., RTA Board Chair. “This is an exciting and transformative time for the RTA, and we remain as focused as ever on our mission to serve our constituents with the world-class, dependable, and safe transit service they deserve and to lead the state as a regional transit provider.”
“Today, we convened our monthly Board of Commissioners meeting with three new representatives from Jefferson Parish nominated by President Lee Sheng and a new representative nominated by Mayor Cantrell,” said Lona Edwards Hankins, RTA CEO. “While the work of the RTA has progressed uninterrupted throughout 2024, we are excited to return to all of our regularly scheduled meetings and look forward to collaborating with our new board members. We continue this work with our riders as our top priority and focused on creating a world-class riding experience for everyone.”
Commissioner Daniels will serve on the Finance Committee. Commissioner Cisco will also serve on the Finance Committee, as well as the Operations & Administration Committee. Commissioner Hurley will serve on the Executive and Finance Committees, while Commissioner Richard will serve on the Operations & Administration Committee.
