RTA Encourages Riders to Download New Le Pass App Ahead of Service Changes
- August 22nd, 2022
The current GoMobile App retires Sunday, August 28
NEW ORLEANS - Today, the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA) announced Le Pass as New Orleans' official transit application. Le Pass provides passengers with a more efficient and seamless transit experience — trip planner, mobile payment, and real-time information — all from one app. The new Le Pass app allows users to live track RTA's buses, streetcars and ferries, and Jefferson Transit's (JET) buses in Jefferson Parish. Le Pass replaces the GoMobileapp, which will no longer be supported after Sunday, August 28, 2022. The new transit application, Le Pass, is free and now available to download on Apple and Android devices.
Additionally, Le Pass features service alerts and message notifications to ensure riders have up-to-date information to avoid disruptions on usual routes and plan their journey accordingly. Le Pass is powered by Moovit's White Label App with Token Transit's fare payment technology.
"We are continuously working to build a world-class transit system – Le Pass and the bus network redesign are examples that demonstrate the agency’s commitment to improving mobility,” said Alex Z. Wiggins, RTA CEO. “The bus routes are a collaborative effort between RTA, our riders, and the community and are a critical step toward improving transit services. With increased frequencies, shorter trips and wait times, and expanded bus service in areas that need it most, we're proud of the upcoming route changes and want to ensure that our riders are prepared ahead of September 25. The new Le Pass app trip planner features will make the transition easier, but we will also be at many bus stops over the next few weeks, talking to riders directly and helping them navigate through this service change."
RTA is encouraging riders to download Le Pass in preparation for a bus network redesign that goes into effect on Sunday, September 25, and will impact almost every route. The RTA bus network has not changed since 2004, and the redesign will significantly improve services and offer more equitable access to jobs, education, and other essential destinations.
In order to prepare riders' transition to Le Pass and the upcoming bus route changes, RTA will host a New App, New Routes Open House, at Duncan Plaza, 343 Loyola Avenue, on Thursday, August 25, from 6 AM to 11 AM. Riders and members of the community are encouraged to attend to learn more about Le Pass and the September 25 service changes.
