RTA New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day service impacts

New Orleans, LA – The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority will adjust service along some bus routes and the Algiers Point – Canal Street ferry route due to planned New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day festivities.
All bus and streetcar routes will operate on a Sunday schedule on New Year’s Eve (Friday, December 31) and New Year's Day (Saturday, January 1). Some bus routes will be on detour due to expected service impacts in downtown New Orleans, see the specific route changes below. Temporary signage will be posted at affected stops along detoured routes informing riders of the specific changes.
Beginning at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 31, the #10 - Tchoupitoulas and the #11 – Magazine will terminate service at Camp St. and Poydras St. due to the Sugar Bowl parade. The #16 – Claiborne will also be on detour from Carondelet St. to Canal St. to St. Charles Ave. and back to the normal route. Once the parade clears, service will resume following a Sunday schedule.
The #5 – Bywater and the #55 – Elysian Fields will not service Decatur St. on Friday, December 31. Service for both routes will terminate at Elysian Fields Ave.
Normal bus and streetcar service will resume on Sunday, January 2, following a Sunday schedule.
Ferry service along the Canal Street – Algiers Point route will be extended from 11:00 pm to 11:30 pm. Service will then be suspended from 11:30 pm, December 31, 2021, until 12:30 am, January 1, 2022, due to closure of the river for the New Year’s Eve fireworks display. Ferry service will resume at 12:30 am and be extended until 1:30 am to facilitate transportation of passengers after the event.
