- August 2nd, 2023
NEW ORLEANS – Today, the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority received a grant for more than $222,000 to help restore damage resulting from extreme weather events including Hurricanes Ida and Zeta. The funding will be used to cover personnel expenses and damage to the Cemeteries Transit Center located at the 5100 block of Canal Boulevard.
The grant was issued by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration’s Public Transportation Emergency Relief (ER) Program. The Federal Transit Administration’s ER Program was designed to assist transit agencies in repairing damaged equipment and facilities and recover costs for evacuation following flooding and hurricanes that occurred in 2017 and 2020-2022.
