RTA Rolls to the Polls with Free Transit on Election Day, March 29!
- March 21st, 2025
NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA) is proud to continue its commitment to voter accessibility with Free Fare Day on Saturday, March 29, 2025—Louisiana’s official election day. On this day, all buses, streetcars, and ferries will be free to ride, making it easier for residents to reach their polling places and participate in the democratic process. No voter registration proof is required—just hop on and roll to the polls!
Reminder: Early voting ends this week! If you haven't cast your ballot yet and plan to vote in person, consider taking public transit for a stress-free trip to your precinct.
RTA’s Roll to the Polls initiative, approved by the RTA Board of Commissioners in 2020, ensures that transportation is never a barrier to civic engagement. By offering fare-free service on election days, RTA is helping to build a more equitable, accessible, and participatory democracy—one ride at a time.
Voters are encouraged to use the Le Pass app to plan their trip and find the best routes to their polling locations. For more information, visit norta.com, download the Le Pass app, or call the Rideline at (504) 248-3900.
