RTA to Offer Free Rides on Election Day, Tuesday, November 8
- November 1st, 2022
NEW ORLEANS - The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA) will provide free round-trip rides to local voting precincts on the day of the Louisiana Primary Election, Tuesday, November 8, 2022. Voters can ride at no charge on all RTA buses, streetcars, and ferries. The agency will waive all transit fares for 24 hours on November 8, and proof of voter registration is not required to ride for free.
In 2020, the RTA Board of Commissioners adopted a resolution supported by the New Orleans City Council to waive fares on certified election days, enhancing the agency’s mission to continue building a transit network that provides equitable services for all residents. The RTA fare waiver on identified election days is essential in removing a critical barrier to residents exercising their right to vote.
The Louisiana Secretary of State organizes election information and voting locations; riders can find their voting precinct at geauxvote.com.
For more information, visit the agency’s website at norta.com or call RIDELINE at 504-248-3900. Riders can also text “RTA Updates” to 41-411 to receive news, events, and important information from RTA.
