Temporary Bus Stop and Shelter Adjustments Due to Broad Street Pedestrian Safety Project
- January 15th, 2025
Runs from Lafitte Greenway to Tulane Ave.
NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA) is working with our partners at the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD) and the City of New Orleans’ Department of Public Works (DPW) to minimize disruptions to riders during construction on the Broad Street Pedestrian Safety Project.
The project, spanning Broad Street between Tulane Avenue and the Lafitte Greenway, is scheduled for completion this summer. It aims to enhance pedestrian safety in the area. However, the work will impact bus stops along the 9-Broad-Napoleon line on a rolling, two-block basis, as construction progresses.
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW:
Bus Stops and Shelters: Some stops along Broad Street may be temporarily relocated or closed, and some shelters may be removed during the construction period. Temporary signage will be posted at affected stops with directions to the nearest alternative stop.
Bus Stops and Shelters Workflow and Timeline: Work crews will work from Tulane Avenue and Lafitte Greenway, eastbound and westbound, in two-block intervals, with the following stops impacted (timelines are estimated):
Eastbound Stops – Shelter Removal | Westbound Stops – Shelter Removal |

Traffic Control Measures: Construction zones will be active between Tulane Avenue and Palmyra Street, and Conti Street and Iberville Street. Traffic control measures will be deployed where active construction is occurring. Riders should plan for possible traffic delays and detours in these areas.
Staying Informed: Updates will be communicated through multiple channels, including:
- RTA Service Alerts: Available at norta.com/servicealerts and on the Le Pass app.
- Social Media: Follow us on X (formerly Twitter), @neworleansrta for real-time updates.
