RTA to host open house public meeting to discuss Bus Rapid Transit Study

  • April 27th, 2022

NEW ORLEANS - The New Orleans Transit Authority (RTA) will hold a public meeting to provide details on a study to bring the region’s first Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system to New Orleans. BRT is a fast and frequent service that uses dedicated transit lanes, reducing travel times for commuters. The BRT feasibility study will determine route options to connect 25% to 38% of households without a vehicle in New Orleans East and the Westbank to more than 40,000 jobs in downtown New Orleans.

The open house-style public meeting will occur tomorrow, April 28, 2022, at the RTA Main Office, 2817 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA 70119. The meeting will begin at 5:30 pm. Attendees are encouraged to wear masks.

The open house-style meeting will allow attendees to have a more collaborative, one-on-one experience with the BRT project team. Attendees will be able to obtain updated information on the project and give feedback on potential BRT route options using comment forms and web-based surveys.

The BRT route survey is also available on RTA’s website, www.norta.com, through Friday, May 6.
