Today, the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA) announced the agency’s new permanent fare structure at the New Orleans City Council’s December Meeting. The new fare structure aims to simply the fare offerings, incentivize pass sales for riders who use multiple transit modes for their daily commutes, and offer financial relief to RTA passengers as the economy recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic. The permanent fare structure will take effect on January 1, 2022.

New Orleans, LA – Today, the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA) announced its new partnership with JOB1 Career Solutions to create On the Job Training (OTJT) training for non-violent offenders who successfully complete the requirements of the Louisiana State Penitentiary’s Auto Mechanic Apprenticeship Program upon release. Initially, the RTA will hire bus mechanic and body repair technician trainees, both at $23.67 per hour, up to 40 hours per week for a six-month trial period. The agency hopes to expand this program to additional career pathways in 2022. 
Today, the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA) announced the award of $18,500,000 from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (USDOT) Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability & Equity (RAISE) Grant. The agency intends to utilize the funding to deliver a suite of public transit improvements including the design and construction of two new neighborhood transit hubs and a fare technology system that will integrate mobile, tap card, credit card, and modern payment technologies.
