Today, the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA) was named the winner of American Public Transportation Association (APTA)’s 2021 Rail Safety Certificate of Merit award for Light Rail/Streetcar systems. The Gold Award and Certificate of Merit winners were announced at APTA’s Transform EXPO held in Orlando, Florida. 
The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority will suspend ferry service along the Lower Algiers – Chalmette route on Tuesday, November 9 beginning at 8:00 a.m. due to a mandatory U.S. Coast Guard inspection. Ferry service will resume once the inspection has concluded.
NEW ORLEANS - Today, the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA) was awarded $20,000 from Operation Lifesaver, Inc. for streetcar safety initiatives. The agency intends to utilize the funding to launch a public outreach safety campaign to address unsafe pedestrian activities and behaviors as well as left-turn streetcar-vehicle collisions. RTA was one of six agencies in four states awarded funding to support various rail safety initiatives.
